FiSH Fanatics Find SMILE! Can SMILE! extend the FiSH philosophy?

For the past many years, the training world has been crazy about FiSH - especially the flying variety. Everyone's heard about the famous fish throwers from Pike Place Fish Market in Seattle. And just about everyone's seen the FiSH Philosophy books and videos. It's a training phenomena. Having fun at work, choosing one's attitude - the workplace is now filled with fish throwers.

When I first released SMILE!, the video it was most compared with was FiSH. We are, naturally, appreciative of the comparison. But as the following comment points out, SMILE! actually stakes out new territory that makes it a great enhancement for FiSH. Here's an email I received from Mary Culver, the Training Director for the Atria Senior Living Group in Louisville, Kentucky:

SMILE! is an extra boost to our success with the FiSH philosophy. With FISH, we tell our employees to play, make people's day, be there and really choose their attitudes. SMILE! boosts that philosophy to a level where our employees can actually see how to apply them to their own lives. Reggie took those 4 key factors and applied them to become world famous in a whole new way. The energy this video provides them is contagious.

We use this video to primarily show our Executive Directors who run our Assisted Living Communities. Our approach is to show them that they are the bus drivers and they need to make sure that people (their customers and employees) want to get on their bus because of who's driving it. If there are some bumps or a wrong turn on the way, no one wants to get off, they are on the bus because of who else is on the bus. They have a clearer idea that employees and customers have a choice of busses, but they chose theirs!!! Thanks again for this wonderful video.

Have you used FiSH?
Have you used SMILE! as a tool along with or in addition to FiSH?

We'd love to hear your thoughts and comments.
